Job Description - Buyer
Responsibilities
· Manage the complete purchasing cycle from requirement to delivery, including supplier selection, assessment, and audits.
· Read and interpret technical drawings with a strong understanding of materials, processes, and manufacturing principles.
· Track raw material pricing and market trends, particularly various grades of steel.
· Conduct zero-based costing and cost analysis for procurement activities.
· Negotiate complex terms and conditions with suppliers, ensuring cost efficiency.
· Perform supplier capacity planning, scheduling, and monthly forecasting.
· Handle local dispatches and procurement through MM for projects.
· Support pre-sales activities by obtaining quotations as per RFQs.
· Oversee inventory management and support WMS implementation.
· Coordinate procurement activities with teams in Japan and Germany and contribute to Asia supply chain proposals.
· Manage procurement of mechanical, electrical, and electronic bought-out parts, as well as factory and utility-related spare parts.
· Monitor and forecast demand levels while tracking inventory.
· Ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) supplier deliveries through strong follow-up.
· Drive product localization and sourcing initiatives.
· Develop and evaluate vendors, including annual rate contracts.
· Provide fact-based advice and conduct market/industry analysis.
· Identify and mitigate procurement risks.
Requirements
· 6–8 years of experience in purchasing within automotive and manufacturing industries.
· Knowledge of machining, fabrication, painting, and related costing parameters.
· Strong understanding of MRP and production planning; SAP experience preferred.
· Familiarity with the P2P process.
· Experience in vendor evaluation, vendor development, and supplier networking.
· Proficiency in MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SAP.
· Experience implementing procurement systems.
